Flynco was awarded the contract to build the First Security Amphitheater, located in the heart of downtown Little Rock’s River Market district. The project required removing the original steel tension columns and cables, then installing new cast-in-place concrete columns and modifying existing columns to accommodate a distinctive steel and glue-laminated timber framework. Two massive glue-laminated beams, each over 100 feet long, were carefully delivered and erected at night to avoid traffic disruptions, underscoring Flynco’s expertise in navigating high-visibility projects within tight urban spaces.
In addition to the main stage roof, Flynco constructed a smaller, matching structure over the sound control booth, ensuring architectural consistency throughout the venue. Close coordination and streamlined scheduling allowed the amphitheater improvements to be completed on time and on budget, debuting seamlessly for the Riverfest Music Festival. This success of this project was only possible due to close collaboration with the Architect and the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau.
